Jason is an undercover cop

A widely shared r/GTA6 reading of Trailer 1's camera work says Jason is recording Lucia — and the "easy score gone wrong" is really a sting.

Every Rockstar story hides a betrayal, so r/GTA6 went looking early. Redditor The-King_Of-Games noticed that Trailer 1 keeps framing Lucia Caminos in flat, jittery shots — the way a bodycam sees, not the way Rockstar’s cinematic camera moves. Add the trailer’s police-raid clip, Lucia’s prison opening, and the fact that Jason Duval is never shown in custody, and you get the theory: Jason is recording her, and the “easy score gone wrong” from the official premise is really a sting.

We track it because it keeps resurfacing, not because the evidence is strong. Rockstar’s official bio paints Jason as a lifelong crook running drugs in the Leonida Keys, and nothing across two trailers and the Extended Look puts him near a badge. Speculation, clearly labeled — status changes only on official word before November 19.

Evidence for

  • Trailer 1 (Dec 4, 2023) keeps framing Lucia in flat, jittery handheld shots that fans compare to bodycam footage, while other scenes use polished cinematic moves
  • Trailer 1 opens with Lucia in prison and includes a police-raid clip styled like real bodycam video — Jason is never shown in custody
  • Rockstar's official bio gives Jason an Army stint, the kind of institutional background fans read as cover-story material

Evidence against

  • The same official bio says Jason grew up around grifters and runs drugs for Brian Heder — a police plant living rent-free in a smuggler's trailer is a stretch
  • Nothing in Trailer 2 or the Extended Look shows Jason anywhere near police, and Rockstar's protagonist bios have historically been face-value
